We’re sad to announce that we are sunsetting Illume, our data curation platform for computer vision. Illume has helped a number of customers developing computer vision applications to get more model performance improvement with much less time and effort. However, as a startup operating with limited resources, we have to make some tough decisions to focus our effort in the areas that matter most.

In the last year, we have seen a huge upheaval in the machine learning field as LLMs have unlocked a huge space of new applications. Last year we launched Tidepool, our data analytics product for text, using a lot of the lessons we had learned from working in computer vision and leveraging technology we had developed for Illume. Now, as the capabilities and applications of LLMs have advanced and Tidepool gains more traction, our team is torn between maintaining Illume for our computer vision clients vs investing into improving Tidepool to grow our business in NLP. After a lot of tough conversations, we’ve decided to shut down Illume so we can focus our efforts into growing Tidepool.

To make this process as smooth as possible, we are providing a period of 6 months for customers to transition off of Illume, ending on November 8, 2024. Any customers who have signed annual contracts can choose to cancel early or switch to month-to-month plans. If you have paid for an annual contract and want to end your usage of Illume before the end of that contract term, we will refund you for the difference in contract length. We’re also happy to provide resources and guidance to either replicate Illume’s functionality in-house or refer you to other vendors who can provide similar functionality.

To our Illume customers, we’d like to express our sincerest gratitude for your trust and partnership throughout the years. We wouldn’t be where we are today without you. It has been an honor to serve you, and we are truly grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of your journey.
